Upminster is bay window country
Much of Upminster was built out in the inter-war years along the district line, and the front bay is close to universal: square bays on some roads, splayed bays on others, and a surprising amount of variation in how they were built out even within a single terrace.
The critical point is that a bay takes one blind per pane, not one blind across the whole thing. A roller blind rolls on a straight tube; it cannot follow an angle. So a three-pane bay gets three blinds, each measured to its own opening and all set to the same height so the line across the window stays level.
On a splayed bay the two returns are almost never identical. We measure both rather than assuming they match. That is entirely normal and it is exactly why copying sizes from one side to the other does not work. The bay window guide sets out the whole method.
Deeper plots, bigger rear windows
Upminster plots tend to be generous, and a lot of houses have added rear extensions, conservatories or garden rooms. Those bring roof glazing and wide door openings into the job, and the fabric decision changes: on a south or west-facing rear elevation the problem is heat and glare, not privacy, which points to sunscreen rather than blackout.
Bedrooms above a bay
The first-floor window above a bay is usually a plain square opening and the easiest blind in the house, which makes it the one people most often try to do themselves. Worth doing properly anyway: it is normally the main bedroom, and it is the room where blackout actually matters.

Frequently asked questions
No. A roller blind rolls on a straight tube and cannot follow the angles of a bay. Each pane gets its own blind, set to a common height so the top line runs level across the window.
As neatly as the bay allows. There will be a small gap at each angle, that is physics rather than workmanship, but sizing each pane individually and setting a common height is what makes a bay look deliberate rather than approximate.
More than the window count suggests, because a front bay counts as three blinds rather than one. We quote per window so you can see exactly where the money goes.
