For HD Blinds customers

Roller blind aftercare and repairs

If a roller blind we supplied and fitted stops working properly, get in touch and we will sort it out. Chains, safety devices, brackets and mechanisms can usually be repaired or replaced without replacing the whole blind.

Before you call

It helps to have:

  • Your name and the address where the blinds were fitted
  • Which room and window the blind is in
  • What is happening, for example a slipping chain or a blind that will not stay down
  • A photo, if you can take one

Blinds we fitted, not other companies'

Our repair service is for roller blinds that HD Blinds supplied and fitted. We know how they were made and fitted, so we can get the right parts and fix them properly.

If your blinds came from somewhere else and are beyond saving, we can measure for replacements. Book a free home measure.

Common problems we can fix

Broken or slipping chain

A chain that has snapped, come off the control unit or slips instead of lifting the blind.

Missing safety device

A chain tensioner or cleat that has come away from the wall. These should always be refitted for child safety.

Loose or pulled brackets

Brackets that have worked loose, or a blind that has come down from its fixings.

Blind will not stay put

A blind that creeps down or will not stay where you leave it, usually a control mechanism issue.

Fabric running off square

Fabric that drifts to one side or rolls unevenly and starts to crease or fray at the edge.

Motorised blind faults

A motorised blind that stops responding to its remote or switch, or stops in the wrong place.

If a fabric is damaged, it may be possible to replace the fabric and keep the existing roller. We will tell you what makes sense before doing any work.

Is it covered?

Faults caused by materials or workmanship are covered by our guarantee and by your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Wear and tear, accidental damage and blinds altered by someone else are not faults, but we can still repair them for a charge. We will always tell you which applies, and the cost of any chargeable repair, before we start.

See our terms and conditions for full details.

Keeping your blinds working

  • Pull chains straight down, not at an angle, and do not force a blind past its limit.
  • Keep safety devices fixed to the wall and chains taut.
  • Raise blinds before opening windows on windy days so fabric is not caught or pulled.
  • Clean fabrics gently. Our roller blind cleaning guide explains how.
