How much do roller blinds cost?

Made-to-measure roller blinds, supplied and fitted, typically run from around £65 to £290 per blind. Blackout costs more, day & night more again, and motorised is a different bracket entirely. Here is what moves the number, and why nobody can price your window from a web page.

  • Supply and fitting included
  • Written quote after measuring
  • Price does not change afterwards

Indicative prices by blind type

Per blind, supplied and fitted, including the child safety devices where a chain is used. These are the ranges we work within: a small bedroom window sits near the bottom, a wide living room window in a premium fabric near the top.

Blind typeIndicative rangeWhat puts it at the top of the range
Standard roller£65 to £290Width, drop and fabric. A wide window in a designer fabric costs several times a small one in a plain.
Blackout£95 to £450Coated fabrics cost more, and outside-recess fitting or side channels add to it.
Day & night£175 to £390Twice the fabric and a more involved mechanism. A cassette pushes it higher.
Motorised / electricFrom around £180Motor type, power method and controls. Hardwiring and a bank of blinds move it well beyond the entry figure.

These are indicative, not a quotation. They are the bands we price within, given so you can tell whether a project is broadly within budget before anyone visits. The only accurate number is the one we write down after measuring your windows, and once we have written it, it does not change.

What actually moves the price

Width and drop

The biggest single factor, and it is not linear. A blind twice as wide costs more than twice as much, because wider blinds need heavier tubes and stronger mechanisms to hang straight without dipping in the middle.

Fabric

Plain polyester sits at the bottom. Coated blackout, moisture-resistant and thermal fabrics cost more because of the coating. Designer and branded fabrics cost more again. This is the variable you have most control over, and the one where samples pay for themselves.

How it is fitted

Inside the recess is the standard. Fitting outside the recess uses more fabric. Side channels are the biggest single add-on, they are a component per window plus extra fitting time, but on a blackout blind in a bedroom, or any roof window, they are what makes the blind work.

Cassette or fascia

A modest addition per blind that hides the roller and gives a cleaner line. Worth it on day & night and motorised blinds, where the roll is bulkier.

Operation

Chain is standard and included. Spring cordless costs more. Motorised is a different bracket, and within it a battery motor is far cheaper than a hardwired installation with wall switches.

The window itself

Awkward windows cost more because they take longer, not because the blind is different. Bays are priced per pane. Conservatory roof blinds are substantially more per pane than side blinds because of the tensioning system and working overhead. High-level windows add access time.

How the bands play out room by room

Illustrative, using the ranges above. Your windows will differ, which is rather the point of measuring them.

One bedroom window, blackout

A standard bedroom window in a coated blackout fabric, fitted inside the recess, sits in the lower half of the blackout band. Ask for outside-recess fitting or side channels to kill the light gaps and you move up it: that is the choice we will put to you at the measure.

A three-pane bay

Three blinds, priced per pane. Bay panes are usually narrower than a standard window, so each blind sits lower in the band than you might expect, but there are three of them, and any extras you choose apply three times over. Cassettes and motors add up fastest here.

A whole house of plain rollers

Six to eight standard windows in a plain fabric, all inside the recess, is the most economical way to do a full house. Mixing in blackout only where it earns its place, bedrooms, keeps the total down without compromising the rooms that matter.

A conservatory

The largest domestic job we quote. Side blinds price like ordinary window blinds; the roof is considerably more per pane. Doing the roof first and the sides later is a sensible way to spread it, and the roof is where the benefit is.

What is included, and what is not

Worth being explicit, because this is where quotes differ and where a cheaper price sometimes turns out not to be.

  • Included: the free home measure, the blind made to your window, fitting by our own team, all brackets and fixings, and the child safety devices fitted and secured. We do not charge extra for compliance with the safety standard.
  • Included: clearing up and taking the packaging away.
  • Priced separately and itemised: cassettes, side channels, hold-down brackets, motors and controls, so you can see what each costs and decline anything you do not want.
  • Not charged: the visit, the quote, or advice over the phone about blinds you already have.

When comparing quotes, check three things: whether fitting is included or extra, whether the safety devices are fitted or left in the packet, and what the bottom bar and chain are made of on a bathroom blind. Those three account for most of the difference between a cheap quote and a fair one.

Why we will not give a price over the phone

We can tell you which band you are likely to be in, and we will: ring us and describe the room. What we will not do is give a figure for a specific window without seeing it, because the things that set the price are exactly the things you cannot describe accurately down a phone line: the true width and drop, the depth of the reveal, where the handles sit, whether the opening is square.

A firm that quotes a precise number without measuring is either estimating and will revise it later, or pricing high to cover themselves. Neither serves you well.

Commercial pricing

Priced per window against a schedule rather than in bands. Send a specification or a window schedule and we will price it line by line; send an address and we will survey it and produce the schedule ourselves. See commercial roller blinds.

Getting an exact figure

Free measure, written quote, fixed price

We come to you, measure every window, show you the fabrics in your own light and tell you honestly where spending more is worth it and where it is not. You get an itemised written quote per window.

Nothing is ordered until you say so, and the price we write down is the price you pay.

Common questions

Roller blind costs, answered

Most standard roller blinds, supplied and fitted, fall between £65 and £290 per blind. A small window in a plain fabric sits near the bottom; a wide window in a premium fabric near the top.

Blackout starts higher, at roughly £95, because coated fabrics cost more to make.

Yes. Every figure on this page is supplied and fitted by our own team, including all brackets and fixings and the child safety devices fitted and secured.

When comparing quotes, check this specifically: a supply-only price looks cheaper until you add a fitter.

Because the blind is cut to your window rather than to the nearest standard size, so it fits the opening properly instead of leaving gaps at the sides or hanging short.

You are also paying for someone to measure it correctly and hang it square, which is most of what determines whether a blind looks right.

Motorised blinds start from around £180 per blind, and the range above that is wide. A battery motor with a handheld remote is the entry point; a hardwired installation with wall switches or sensors costs considerably more.

It is the biggest single price jump on the site, which is why we would rather motorise the two windows that need it than all of them.

Priced per pane. A three-pane bay is three blinds, though bay panes are often narrower than a standard window so each one tends to sit lower in the range.

Extras multiply: a cassette or a motor is charged three times on a three-pane bay, which is why they add up faster here than anywhere else.

No. The visit, the measuring and the written quote are free, with no obligation to order.

Advice over the phone about blinds you already have is free as well.

No. We measure first, then quote, and the written figure is what you pay. That is the point of measuring before pricing rather than after.

The only thing that changes it is you changing the order: a different fabric, or adding a cassette.

Fabric choice is the safest saving: a plain fabric performs the same as a designer one in most rooms. Skipping cassettes on windows where the roller is not at eye level is another.

What we would not skimp on: side channels in a bedroom you need dark, coated fabric and an aluminium bottom bar in a bathroom, and cordless in a small child's room. Those are the ones people come back and redo.

The same information, on one scale

Price tables are hard to compare down a column. Plotted against a single axis, the overlaps and the outliers are obvious, and the overlaps are the useful part, because they show where your choice of fabric genuinely changes the bill and where it barely does.

Supplied and fitted, per blind

Scale runs £0 to £460. Ranges reflect size as well as fabric.

Standard roller
£65 to £290
Blackout
£95 to £450
Day and night
£175 to £390
Motorised
from £180

Fitting, brackets and child safety devices are included. Bays are priced per pane, so a three-pane bay sits at three times the figure above.

Two things the chart makes plain. A small blackout blind costs less than a large standard one: size moves the number more than fabric does, which is why a quote by the window beats a quote by the house. And motorisation is an addition rather than a category: the figure is what the motor brings, on top of a blind you were buying anyway.
