Two kinds of Dartford housing
The new developments
Ebbsfleet, Greenhithe and the newer riverside schemes are among the most recently built housing anywhere in our area, and they share the modern pattern: large glazed areas, shallow reveals, tilt-and-turn windows, and rooms that heat up quickly because the insulation is good and the glass is generous.
Two practical consequences. First, there is often not enough reveal depth to recess-fit, so the blind goes on the face, which is fine, and usually looks better on a modern square opening anyway. Second, the complaint is far more often glare and heat than privacy, and those want a sunscreen fabric rather than blackout. In a bedroom you may want both: sunscreen downstairs, blackout up.
The older town and the Victorian terraces
Dartford town centre, Temple Hill and the roads off East Hill have a good deal of Victorian and inter-war housing with deeper reveals, taller windows and the usual century of settlement. Standard measuring applies, bays are measured pane by pane, and there is generally room for a cassette if you want the roll tidied away.
Wilmington, Joyden's Wood and the greener edges
Larger detached and semi-detached houses, more conservatories and garden rooms, and more windows per job. This is where motorisation starts to be worth the money, not for one window, but for a run of them.
Coming from north of the river
We are based in Rainham and come over the crossing, which means two things worth being upfront about. The visit is still free: we do not add a charge for the crossing. And we will usually suggest a morning or a later afternoon appointment to avoid sitting in crossing traffic, so we arrive when we said we would rather than forty minutes later.

How it works
- Call or send an enquiry. Tell us roughly how many windows and which rooms.
- We visit and measure. Free, and we bring samples. About an hour for a typical house.
- You get a written quote. Itemised by window, with fitting included.
- The blinds are made to your sizes. We agree a fitting date with you.
- We fit them and clear up. Child safety devices fitted to BS EN 13120 where a chain is used.

No. Measuring and quoting are free across DA1 and DA2, and the crossing is not passed on to you.
Usually within a few days. We tend to book Kent visits for mid-morning or later in the afternoon so crossing traffic does not make us late, but tell us what suits you and we will work around it.
A face fit above the opening, which overlaps the window on all sides and blocks more light than a recess fit would.
Fitting blinds to reveals and walls is normal and not usually an issue, but check your own warranty terms first. We will show you where each bracket would go before anything is drilled.
