Fabric looks different at your window than it does on a screen. Colour shifts with the light in your room, and openness factor is genuinely impossible to judge from a photograph. Order samples, hold them against your own glass, and decide from that.
Why bother
Every screen renders colour differently, and your room has its own light: north-facing cool, south-facing warm, and different again under lamps at night. A grey that looks soft online can read blue on your wall.
Openness factor is a number until you hold it up. A 5% sunscreen at your window, against your view, is the only way to judge whether it gives you enough privacy and enough view.
The one people forget. Hold the sample up in the evening with the lights on and look at it from outside. Sunscreen fabrics reverse completely at night, and it is far better to discover that now.
Two minutes of this will tell you more than an hour of browsing.
If you narrow it to two and cannot choose, that is a good problem. Tell us both at the measure and we will bring the full books so you can see them at full width rather than as a swatch.
Not sure which fabrics to ask for? Tick “send a mix” on the form and tell us the room. Bedroom, bathroom, conservatory and living room all point to different fabrics, and we would rather send you the right four than a random selection.

Samples are the right first step if you are still deciding what you like, or you are not ready to have anyone in the house. There is no obligation and no salesperson will turn up on the strength of a sample request.
A free home measure is better once you know roughly what you want, because we bring the complete fabric books rather than a handful of swatches, and you see the fabric at full width in the actual room. We also measure the windows while we are there, so you get a real price rather than an estimate.
Plenty of people do both, in that order. That is a perfectly sensible way to go about it.
If you are matching to an existing blind, a paint colour or a fabric elsewhere in the room, send us a photo when you order and mention what you are matching to. We will include the closest options rather than leaving you to guess from the full range.
Where an exact match to an existing blind matters, replacing one blind in a bay, for instance, tell us. Fabrics are discontinued over time, and it is better to know that at sample stage than after ordering.

Hold it flat against the glass rather than at arm's length: a small swatch against the window tells you far more than a larger one held in the room.
